Mae cais Llywodraeth y Cynulliad am ragor o bwerau i ddeddfu dros y Gymraeg wedi ei gyhoeddi. Mae'r Gorchymyn Cymhwysedd Deddfwriaethol (GCD neu 'LCO') yn cynnwys yr hawl i sicrhau bod rhai cwmniau preifat, gan gynnwys cwmniau ynni a thelegyfathrebu, yn defnyddio'r Gymraeg.
Dywedodd Gweinidog Treftadaeth Llywodraeth y Cynulliad, Alun Ffred Jones, fod angen trosglwyddo'r pwerau "er mwyn i ni allu cyrraedd ein nod o greu Cymru gwirioneddol ddwyieithog".
Dyma brawf pellach fod y Blaid yn gweithredu ar addewidion agenda Cymru'n Un, er bydd rhaid aros i weld a fydd San Steffan yn cytuno ag argymhellion pwyllgor y GCD. Mae hwn yn gam cadarnhaol ymlaen i Gymru ac mae Cymru X yn llwyr gefnogol i broses y GCD. Ryn ni'n credu mai yng Nghymru dylai'r pwerau hyn dros yr iaith fod, ac y dylai unrhyw newidiadau cyfreithiol yn y dyfodol fod yn fater i fesurau gan y Cynulliad.
Mae angen y pwerau hyn er mwyn darparu deddfwriaeth flaengar ar yr iaith. Mae'n bryd i'r Gymraeg gael statws fel un o ieithoedd swyddogol Cymru, a dylai pobl Cymru hefyd gael yr hawl i ddewis ym mha iaith yr hoffent dderbyn gwasanaethau craidd.
Cynulliad Cenedlaethol Cymru ddylai fod y corff sy'n deddfu ar yr iaith Gymraeg. Mae'n rhaid i ni sicrhau na all saga Thomas Cook - pan geisiodd y cwmni wahardd gweithwyr rhag siarad รข'u gilydd yn Gymraeg - fyth ddigwydd eto.
The Welsh Assembly Government's bid for more powers to make laws to promote the Welsh language has been published. The legislative competence order (LCO) includes the right to require some private companies to use the language, including energy and telecoms firms.
Assembly government Heritage Minister Alun Ffred Jones said the transfer of powers was needed "so that we are better able to secure our goal of creating a truly bilingual Wales".
This is further proof that Plaid act on promises set out in the One Wales Agenda but a waiting game will now be played out as we wait to see whether Westminster agree to proposals laid by the LCO committee. This is a positive step forward for Wales and Cymru X fully supports the LCO process. We believe that these powers over the Welsh language should rest in Wales and any future changes in the law will be a matter for future Assembly measures.
These powers are necessary to bring forward progressive legislation on the language. It’s time that the Welsh Language has status as one of Wales’ official languages, and the people of Wales should have the right to choose in which language they would prefer to receive key services.
It is only right that the body that should legislate on the Welsh language is the National Assembly for Wales. We have to ensure that the Thomas Cook incident – when the company tried to stop its workers from speaking Welsh to each other – can never happen again.
